These passages do not mention historical situations. Judah and his clan moved to Egypt along with his other brothers after Joseph had established a safe haven for them during the famine (Gen. 46:8–27). So although the list skips some generations, some of these people would have lived in Egypt. Nor does the chronicler take notice of the time of wandering and the exodus; we just get bare lines of genealogy, and shortened ones at that. What applies here also applies to some of the other lists below.
